"Great events - so much better than normal events / races"

"Thank you for a great series. I've never done any navigation events before and they were great. The locations meant that I was able to explore areas I had never run on before"

Our timer is counting down to the next event and we are also getting everything ready to be set for the off. We hope to challenge your mind and body by give you some great running on a variety of Peak District terrain.

From tough high moorland requiring accurate navigation to more runnable areas with a good network of footpaths in the limestone dales. You can select your own route and go as hard or as easy as you like!

Think navigation / orienteering mixed with mountain craft and fun.

We run in the hills and we love navigating in beautiful countryside, enjoying the challenge of moving over open moorland. If you are like us then you will love these events.

For the beginner and the elite, our events will challenge your brain as well as your legs.

Good news, Peak Raid 3 is back!
Probably, like many of you, we were very disappointed to hear that the PR3 series was due to finish this coming autumn.
Dave Peel and Richard Patton have created an excellent series of events that have, quite rightly, developed a loyal and enthusiastic following. So, first of all, we would like to pay tribute to Dave and Richard with a massive thank you for all of their hard work and commitment in establishing the unique character and friendly atmosphere of the Peak Raid 3 series.
It is our aim to continue, and to build upon, Dave and Richard’s original vision by organising high quality, challenging and friendly events in a variety of Peak District terrain.
Between us, we have many years’ experience; competing in orienteering events, fell races and mountain marathons and intend to use our combined knowledge (of over 60 years competing!) to establish a spring series and an autumn series. We are currently in the process of planning the four autumn events for 2019 and will provide an update with details, dates, pictures and more in the very near future.
Looking forward to meeting you all at an event in the near future. Keep watching this space for more information and updates.

Firstly thanks for all the really positive messages about the Peak Events. It shows how popular they have been and how much they would be missed. However we are very pleased to announce that Explorer Events and the Peak Raid series will continue under new leadership. A new team will be taking the events forward who have exciting plans to develop the events over the coming years. We'll let them tell you about this in due course, but for now its good bye from Dave, Rich and team and hello from Paul, Andy and team. That is Paul Addison who is a long standing Peak Raid competitor, and Andy Jackson who has a wealth of knowledge from competing in and organising mountain events. Most importantly Paul & Andy share our philosophy for events and are passionate to keep the Peak Raid 3 series true to its values. So watch this space to find out about their plans for the future of Explorer Events and the Peak Raid series. ... See MoreSee Less

Explorer Events

Obtaining access for the Peak Raid events has become increasingly difficult due to recent requirements imposed by the Peak District National Park and Natural England amongst others, and whilst we have always manged to get permission, we’ve often been forced to make course changes very late in the day. For example at one event we only received permission the day before, despite working on it for 9 months. So far this hasn’t had a significant impact on the event experience but we feel it’s just a matter of time before it does, not to mention the toll it’s had on our nerves! The demands of staging the events aren’t getting any easier and we have less free time as our own professional lives have become busier, so it is with regret that we have decided to call it a day on Explorer Events, at least for the foreseeable future.

The Peak Raid events have become a great success with a fantastic Peak Raid community developing so we appreciate that many people will be disappointed to hear this but we feel it is best to quit while you’re ahead, and while we’re still proud of the events’ quality and popularity. So thank you all for your role in making 20 great events, 300 controls, 60 hours of fun, a possible 10,000 points and lot of tea & biscuits.

So is this the end of the 70 pointer? Well probably, however if you have a burning desire to carry the Peak Raid baton forward then we’re more than happy to discuss passing it on to somebody who appreciates its values and has a desire to see the events continue. Just don’t all rush at once!
Over and out.
Dave, Rich and all the Explorer Events team.

Results from all Peak Raid events, including previous years

This is a brilliant series of events – challenging but really enjoyable. In a time when other ‘adventure’ style events charge silly money for a similar experience, the peak raid series stands out as very well organised, friendly yet competitive but above all great value for money. Well done Dave and all helpers!”

We loved the series. Now just got to get fit for next year and work on route choice”

Cracking events. Well mapped and organised. Super friendly”

Great map by Peel Land Surveys, and a very friendly race environment. The 3-hour score format is great as it means you can go out for as long or as short as you like, and everyone can compete on the same course. Looking forward to the next one!”

“And the events were great. We both really enjoyed ourselves. Lots of variety in terrain and navigation challenges. Thanks for organising such good weather”
